The 13th edition of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup will be organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC), and it is scheduled to be played in India from 5th October to 19th November 2023. The fixtures for the One Day World Cup 2023, has been released on 27th June 2023. The 10 venues for the mega event have been finalized. Originally, the tournament was scheduled to be played from 9 February to 26 March 2023. But, in July 2020, it was announced that the tournament would be delayed to an October–November window, following the disruption of the qualification schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The current defending champion is England, who won their maiden title in 2019. Australia holds the record for the most World Cup victories (5 times). India and West Indies are the only two teams that won the title more than once, with two victories each.

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, is one of the most-awaited tournaments of the decade. ICC organizes a world-class event once every 4 years. The upcoming tournament will consist of a round-robin stage followed by the knockout phase. During the round-robin stage, each team will play against all other teams once.

On 9th August 2023, ICC and BCCI shared the revised schedule of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. It was revised due to security and festival reasons in India on match day. A total of 9 matches’ schedule has changed including India and Pakistan match. In the initial schedule, the match was to take place on 15th October 2023, Sunday but as per the revised schedule, it will be played on 14th October 2023, Saturday. For all the revised match schedules the venue is the same and the date/time is only changed.

ICC ODI Cricket World Cup Starting Date 2023- In previous editions (2019), the schedule was typically released well in advance. For the 2019 World Cup in England, the schedule was unveiled in April 2018. Fans eagerly await the ICC’s schedule announcement and the same was released on 27th June 2023. The official starting date of the ODI World Cup 2023 is 5th October 2023, Thursday, and the final match of the ODI World Cup 2023 will be played on 19th November 2023, Sunday.

The much-awaited match between India and Pakistan is scheduled to be played on 14th October 2023 Saturday at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The last encounter between India and Pakistan in CWC 2019 was a high-scoring affair with India achieving a huge victory in Manchester.

ICC ODI Cricket World Cup Schedule 2023- The World Cup kicks off on 5 October 2023 with a repeat of the 2019 Final as England takes on New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The last group stage match will be played between England and Pakistan at Eden Garden, Kolkata.

Host team India will begin its campaign on 8th October 2023 against Australia at Chennai. Each team will play against the other 9 teams in a round-robin format with the top 4 teams qualifying for the knockout stage and semi-finals.

ICC ODI Cricket World Cup Knockout Schedule 2023- The first semi-final will be held on Wednesday, November 15 in Mumbai and the second semi-final will be held the following day in Kolkata. The Final will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19 with November 20 slated as the reserve day. Both semi-finals will have a reserve day. On 13th September 2023, The Afghanistan Cricket Board announced a 15-member squad for the Cricket Cup 2023. Naveen Ul Haq, the Afghani fast bowler returns to the squad after a gap of 2 years. Gulbadin Naib won’t be part be the World Cup squad. Hashmatullah Shahidi will lead the team and Rahmat Shah will be the Vice Captain of Afghanistan in the Cricket World Cup 2023.

The upcoming edition of the Cricket World Cup will mark India’s first time hosting on its own. Previously India co-hosted the World Cup along with Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. However this time, India is set to host the entire tournament independently. India has previously co-hosted the Cricket World Cup 3 times, the first was in 1987, followed by 1996, and 2011.

ODI Cricket World Cup Winner List 1975-2023

The first edition of the tournament was played in 1975 where West Indies won the title by beating Australia by 17 runs in a 60-over match. England won the last edition of the tournament by defeating New Zealand in the 2019 World Cup final game.

  • West Indies have won ICC World Cup cricket twice and both were in the early days and have been runner-up once.
