After the win against New Zealand, team India is playing against Australia. It will be a 4 test matches home series, which has been started on the 9th of February 2023. The 1st test match was played from 9th February 2023, Thursday – 11th February 2023, Saturday. This match was played between India and Australia at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur. After winning the 1st test match, the 2nd Test was played from 17th February 2023, Friday – 21st February 2023, Tuesday. The game was played at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, and got started at 9:30 AM, where the toss of the match was done just before the 30 minutes of the game i.e. at 09:00 AM on 17th Feb. In the third test match, Rohit Sharma and Steve Smith are the captains of Team India and Australia respectively. The third Test match is being played at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore, in which India won the toss and decided to bat first on the first day. Despite woeful returns in his recent outings in Test cricket, opener, and vice-captain KL Rahul retained his spot in the Indian Test squad for the final two Tests against Australia. Ravindra Jadeja, who marked a spectacular comeback into the India Test squad following a shoulder injury having picked 17 wickets in the first two Tests, was also named for the ODIs.

Rohit Sharma will lead the team against Australia in the first 2 tests and KL Rahul will be the vice-captain. After that, on 19th February 2023, BCCI also announced the squad for the rest 2 test and 3 matches ODI series. For the test and ODI series Rohit Sharma will remain the captain, apart from that KL Rahul will be the vice-captain for the test and Hardik Pandya will be the vice-captain for the ODI series.
